Battlegrounds - Arathi Basin
The struggle for the Arathi Basin goes back to the dawn of settlement in the area. For players familiar with the Warcraft real-time sim franchise, this provides a fun "ground eye view" of resource development. Alliance players start at Trollbane Hall (A) in the northwest, while Horde players start at the Defiler's Den (B) in the southeast. The object is to control resource gathering nodes: a stables (C), gold mine (D), smithy (E), lumber mill (F), and farm (G). While your faction holds a node, it will produce raw materials. The faction which produces 2000 raw materials first wins the instance. As a side benefit, while your faction holds a node, you can resurrect at the graveyard next to the node. This gives a substantial advantage to the defenders. Control of the node is determined by a banner planted at the node. Right-clicking the banner allows a player to claim it for their side; however, it takes time to contest a banner, and any hit interrupts the process.
The instance entrances (and faction vendors) for the Basin are located in Refuge Pointe (Alliance) and just north of Hammerfell (Horde) in the Arathi Valley (north of the Wetlands).
Bonus honor is awarded for all resources generated, whether or not your side wins the battleground. You earn 20 honor for every 333 resources harvested plus an additional 20 honor for a win (140 total). During the Arathi Basin Battlegrounds weekend, you earn 20 honor for every 200 resources harvested as well as the 20 for a win (220 total).
