Reputation CompendiumKirin Tor
Dalaran was founded in ancient times by magi from Strom with assistance from the high elves who had first introduced mortals to magic. As a center of magical learning, it provided a beacon to the Burning Legion, luring demons to Azeroth. One of its advanced students became the lich Kel'Thuzad and created the Scourge Plague. Given this, the destruction of the city at the hands of Archimonde was seen by some as well merited. When Malygos of the Blue Dragonflight declared war on mortal magic-use, it was inevitable that Dalaran be on the front lines. The Kirin Tor, rulers and guardians of the city and researchers of all mortal magic, have thus transported Dalaran to Northrend. Access to Dalaran for mages is granted by the quest, "Attunement to Dalaran," given by the images of the Kirin Tor council members in Dragonblight upon reaching L73. All other characters can be teleported to Dalaran at L74 by speaking with (most) Kirin Tor magi. Archmage Alvareaux, in the Violet Citadel of Dalaran, serves as Quartermaster for Kirin Tor reputation rewards.
Reputation from KillsThe Kirin Tor is one of the factions that may be Championed by wearing its tabard in L80 instances, earning reputation gains for all kills. QuestsKirin Tor quests may be found throughout Northrend, primarily in Dalaran and surroundings, but also in Amber Ledge and Coldarra in the Borean Tundra and the Horde and Alliance strongholds in Dragonblight. Repeatable Reputation Quests for the Kirin TorThe daily cooking quests offered by the Grand Master Cook in either the Horde or Alliance Inns in Dalaran yield 195 Kirin Tor reputation. The daily fishing quests offered by Marcia Chase in Dalaran yield 325 Kirin Tor reputation. The daily jewelcrafting shipment quests offered by Timothy Jones, the Grand Master Jewelcrafting Trainer in Dalaran, yield 25 Kirin Tor reputation. You may also trade an Emblem of Triumph for a Commendation Badge that yields 520 rep. Practical NotesThis faction begs Championing, since the opportunities for reputation gains from the dailies are more limited. If you're a cook or jewelcrafter, running the dailies is important to gain recipes for your profession anyway. For cooks, this is the primary source of recipes L400+. Most of the reputation rewards are (naturally) geared to casters, but there's a decently quick dagger, a set of Epic plate gloves for tank types, and a nice staff for feral druids. |
