Pilgrim’s Bounty (21-27 November)

The season of Pilgrim’s Bounty (official page) is a time for “reflecting on your journeys and good fortune, sharing plentiful food and stories with friends.”

Food's on! Central to the celebration are the Bountiful Tables found outside most cities. Tables have five chairs, each having an unlimited supply of one food (sweet potatoes, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie). Chairs function like vehicles; you gain a separate action bar for passing your particular food or eating any foods (either your own or something passed to you). You may eat an unlimited amount of the food from your chair. Eating five helpings gains a buff for that food (the same “well fed” bonus as eating the recipe item).

You may also pass servings to (and receive them from) other diners at your table. You do this by targeting the chair (not the person sitting in it) to pass food to that plate. If you have no target or target a person, you accidentally throw the food at them instead. You can see how many food items are at that setting by looking at the buffs on each chair. Eating five or more helpings of all five foods gains you the five food buffs plus the Spirit of Sharing, which gives +10% reputation gains for an hour. The Pilgrim’s Paunch achievement requires you to do this at each of your faction’s capitals. Sitting at a different chair at each capital will help you obtain the Sharing is Caring achievement as well.

Tables may be found outside the following cities/towns:

Alliance Horde
  • Stormwind (34.2, 51.0), Ironforge (52.6, 32.5), Darnassus (68.7, 37.2), Exodar (76.2, 53.3)
  • Goldshire, Kharanos, Dolanaar, Azure Watch, Southshore, Wildhammer Keep, Chillwind Camp
  • Orgrimmar (46.3, 14.3), Silvermoon City (55.5, 53.2), Thunder Bluff (29.9, 65.1), Undercity (65.6, 8.2)
  • Razor Hill, Falconwing Square, Bloodhoof Village, Brill, Sepulcher, Tranquillien, Tarren Mill, Hammerfall, Stonard, Shadowprey Village, Revantusk Village
Ruins of Thaurissan, Light’s Hope Chapel, Shattrath City

You can complete the round of the tables as you do the seasonal cooking quests. As you move through the capital city tables, make sure to pick up the specialty foods only sold at particular venues (pumpkins, cranberries, and sweet potatoes). Also, make sure to hunt enough turkeys to complete at least one round of dailies (since there’s an achievement for completing all dailies). To complete the quests and one round of dailies, you will need:

  • 30 Ripe Elwynn Pumpkins or 25 Tirisfal Pumpkins
  • 25 Wild Turkeys (only found in Elwynn Forest or Tirisfal Glades)
  • 25 Tangy Wetlands Cranberries or 30 Southfury Cranberries
  • 25 Teldrassil/Mulgore Sweet Potatoes

You will also need 30 Spice Bread (a Cooking (1) recipe, requiring 30 Mild Spices and 30 Simple Flour), 80 Autumnal Herbs, and 130 Honey – Spice Bread materials, Honey, and Herbs can be purchased from the vendors at the Tables outside any capital city. Don’t cook the items until you have the quests, since for some of the non-daily quests you get credit from preparing the food, not just delivering it.

References

This is based on the Thanksgiving holiday as celebrated in the United States. The names of most of the quest NPCs (except for the Tauren) are taken from the passengers of the Mayflower, the ship which brought the settlers of Plymouth Colony to North America.

Pilgrim’s Bounty Items

Vendor Items

Seasonal vendors may be found at the festival sites outside capital cities. They sell the reagents needed to produce the Pilgrim’s Bounty recipe foods.

Quest Items

These items are available as quest rewards from the daily quests:

Stock up on Turkey Shooters, since you never know when you might find a rogue wandering around. You should pick up the hat and one of the chestpieces so you can run Sethekk Halls in pilgrim garb. You will need two days of dailies to have the items needed for all the acheivements.

Pilgrim Dress (left), Robe (right), and Hat

Pilgrim Attire and Hat

Completing the “Slow-Roasted Turkey” quest will grant a Turkey Caller (Use: Calls a Lonely Turkey – drops Wild Turkey if killed).

Recipe Items

The pages of the Bountiful Cookbook let cooks produce useful foods which grant a level-dependent “well fed” buff. These also provide an excellent way to skill up cooking during the season. Unfortunately, these recipes all require supplies only available from seasonal vendors:

  • Spice Bread Stuffing (Cooking 1-100, Requires 1 Spice Bread, 1 Autumnal Herbs, Use: +4% health and mana/sec for 30 sec, +Hit Rating and Stamina)
  • Pumpkin Pie (Cooking 100-160, Requires 1 Ripe Elwynn/Tirisfal Pumpkin, 1 Honey, Use: +4% health and mana/sec for 30 sec, +Spirit and Stamina)
  • Cranberry Chutney (Cooking 160-220, Requires 1 Tangy Wetlands/Southfury Cranberries, 1 Honey, Use: +4% health and mana/sec for 30 sec, +Spell Power and Stamina)
  • Candied Sweet Potato (Cooking 220-280, Requires 1 Teldrassil/Mulgore Sweet Potato, 1 Honey, 1 Autumnal Herbs, Use: +4% health and mana/sec for 30 sec, +Haste Rating and Stamina)
  • Slow-Roasted Turkey (Cooking 280-340, 1 Wild Turkey, 2 Honey, 1 Autumnal Herbs, Use: +4% health and mana/sec for 30 sec, +Attack Power and Stamina)
  • Bountiful Feast

Quests

The quests are given out at the main feast tables outside the capital cities. The cooking quests require the recipes from the Bountiful Cookbook that you can purchase from the seasonal vendors. Most of the ingredients can be purchased from the vendors with the exception of Wild Turkeys, which may be found in Elwynn Forest or Tirisfal Glades during the season. Alliance and Horde have similar but slightly different questlines. Note that all the reputation gains have 25% spillover to the other team factions. Remember to get your Spirit of Sharing buff before turning in any of the dailies to maximize your reputation gains.

Note that you can’t sit down if you’re in combat, so it’s important to be sneaky. In several cases, you can approach the tables without flagging for PvP (on a PvE server), giving you a fairly easy time of it.

The Turkinator Hunt enough Wild Turkeys quickly enough to gain Turkey Triumph.
Wild Turkeys can be found during the season in Elwynn Forest or Tirisfal Glades. Killing a turkey increases a Turkey Tracker buff which expires in 30 seconds. Each kill resets the counter to 30 seconds. To gain Turkey Triumph, you must raise your Turkey Tracker buff to 40 (10 – Turkey Hunter, 20 – Turkey Domination, 30 – Turkey Slaughter). Hunting during non-peak hours is strongly suggested. We’ve had some success hunting in the area west of the Bracknell Pumpkin Patch or east of Brill. Your mileage may vary.
10
Turkey Lurkey Blast those dirty, sneaking Rogues with your Turkey Shooter. (One of each race that allows Rogues)
You gain the Turkey Shooter as a reward from the Pilgrim’s Bounty daily quests; it is a single charge item, so you will need to do eight dailies to get enough shooters. Also note that you do not get credit for shooting a rogue who is already “turkeyed”. For those really stuck, you do get credit for shooting a rogue made with a 10-day free trial account…
10
